Your journey begins in Bishkek, the vibrant capital of Kyrgyzstan, where you’ll explore historic landmarks, local markets, and sample authentic Kyrgyz cuisine. From Bishkek, embark on a scenic drive to Bokonbaevo, along the southern shores of Issyk-Kul Lake, the world’s second-largest alpine lake. On the way, visit the historic Burana Tower, a 10th–11th century Silk Road monument, and witness a thrilling eagle hunting show, a unique Kyrgyz cultural tradition. Relax overnight in a cozy yurt camp near the lakeshore.

Next, travel to Song-Kul Lake via the scenic Kalmak-Ashuu Pass. Arrive at the lake for lunch at a traditional yurt camp and spend the afternoon experiencing the everyday life of Kyrgyz shepherds. Participate in milking mares, making Kymyz (fermented mare’s milk) and Airan, and tending cattle, or simply enjoy the stunning alpine views. Optional activities include horseback riding along the lake, hiking to panoramic viewpoints, or photographing the pristine mountain landscapes.

The tour concludes with a scenic drive back to Bishkek via 32 Slopes Pass, stopping along the way for a short walk to a waterfall. Return to Bishkek and reflect on your journey through Kyrgyzstan’s breathtaking mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and rich cultural heritage.

TRIP ITINERARY

Bishkek – Bokonbaevo village – Song-Kol lake – Bishkek

Day 1

Bishkek to Bokonbaevo: A Scenic Drive with Eagle Hunting Experience

Morning departure to the southern Issyk-Kul Lake, 5 hours. On the way, visit the Burana Tower architectural complex (10-11th century, an important point on the Great Silk Road), 15km from the main road. Continue your trip to Issyk-Kul lake, today lunch will be at Jaychi yurt camp, also there you will see eagle hunting show.  Enjoy your time at the lake-shore. Dinner and overnight are in a yurt camp near the lakeshore.

Day 2

Bokonbaevo to Song-Kul lake: A Scenic Journey through Nature and Culture

After breakfast transfer to Song-Kol lake via Kalmak-Ashuu pass, arrive to the lake by late lunch time, have a lunch at yurt camp. Free time. Spend the day enjoying a refreshing and well-earned rest at the lake-side. Watch and/or participate in the everyday life of the shepherds: milking mares; making traditional Kyrgyz milk products like Kymyz (fermented mare’s milk) or Airan (a sour, dense milk product); tending cattle. Dinner and B&B will be at traditional yurt camp.

Drive time: 5 hours

Optional experience: you can enjoy horseback riding along the shores of Song-Kul Lake or explore the area’s stunning panoramic viewpoints.

Day 3

Song-Kul lake to Bishkek: A Scenic Drive via Pass

After late breakfast transfer to Bishkek via 32 Sloops pass, on the way we will make a stop to do easy walking to waterfall. Upon arrival to Bishkek, end of the tour.
